Our church is looking for a leader for vocal/instr. music program.  Exp preferred.   Salary negotiable.  Call 520-4988. The following contract will give you more info as to what we are looking for.

 

 

Music Director

Employment Contract

 

This contract, effective the 1st day of _______, 200_, between Colonial Christian Church and ____________________, is enacted in specification of the terms of employment as Music Director for Colonial Christian Church.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Be responsible for the direction of all choirs - adults as well as children, vocal or instrumental (we have bells for a bell choir).

 

2.. Plan anthems, cantatas and special music for all worship services in consultation with the minister and pianist/organist. Be responsible for providing music for. special worship services, such as Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, or Christmas Eve.

 

3. Work with the minister, pianist/organist and Worship Department Chairperson in developing meaningful music for worship. The Music Director is a member of the Worship Department which is responsible for the overall music ministry of the church and is expected to  attend those committee meetings.

 

4. Encourage a variety of vocal and/or instrumental soloists, duets and ensemble groups within the choir as well as from outside the choir to participate in anthems or special music.

 

5. Always attempt to recruit new choir members and search for hidden talents within the members, making an effort to encourage the development of those talents and the sharing of talent with the church.

 

6. Provide other musical services that may be requested by the minister or the Worship Department.

 

7. While the Music Director is a member of the Worship Department and must work with the department and the current chairperson, and while the Minister is primarily responsible for the worship service as a whole, it is understood that the Music Director is responsible directly to the Church Board., as represented by the Chair of the Board.

 

8.  It is expected that the Music Director will be well versed in hymn and anthem music of a traditional nature, but will also be able to lead us toward a more blended service involving more contemporary music and elements.

 

In consideration of the foregoing, Colonial Christian Church agrees to the following:

1. A salary of $______ per month. (somewhat negotiable)

2. The Music Director will be granted two (2) weeks paid vacation per year.

3. There will be a provisional period of three months, ending _____ 30th, 200_, after which the Personnel Committee shall review the relationship between the Music Director and the Church. Following this provisional period, annual reviews will be conducted in the fall, with an opportunity for both the employee and the church to renegotiate this contract which will become effective on January 1st of the following year..

4. This contract may be voided upon 30 days written notice by either party or sooner by  mutual written consent.
