	Rev. Clayton Boyd, born in Norfolk, Virginia to Carl and Alice Boyd, both deceased. he is the third of four children. His elder broter David lives in Idaho, while younger brother Steven lives in North Carolina. Rev. Boyd's father was a North Carolina native and was retired Air Force. Clay's mother was a Richmond Virginia native.

As a military "brat," Clayton lived in Norfolk, Ft Lee, New York, Germany, Colorado and Washington DC. Rev. Boyd is a 1974 graduate of Lynchburg College, double majoring in Philosophy and Religious Studies. He received an MDiv degree from Lexington Theological Seminary in 1997.

Prior to finishing seminary, Clay served in the US Navy for 12 years, being stationed in Chicago, Maryland, aboard the carrier Midway in Japan, Norfolk, and even with a SEAL unit in Scotland. He was decorated with the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and many other awards and citations.

Answering God's call, Rev. Boyd was ordained at Virginia Beach Christian Church in June of 1997. Since then, he served churches in Kentucky, Virginia, and Illinois before returning home to serve as our pastor.

Preferring to be called Clay, he is a strong advocate for youth in the church and community. He has been a camp counselor in many regions, a camp director, serves as an advisor to the Regional Youth Ministry Committee, and even as an oratory judge for high school students speaking at the Optimist Club. Clay also spends time with our elderly, preaching once a month at the Dunlop House assisted living facility. It is our hope to have a long and fruitful stay in Colonial Heights.
